National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar Monday visited Dastageer Sahib (RA) shrine at Khanyar, Srinagar to review the arrangements for forthcoming Urs at the revered shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).While directing the administration to ensure proper supply of every facility to be provided to devotes coming for the Urs starting fromDecember 30, Sagar Said, “The administration must ensure uninterrupted water and power supply, medical aid, sanitation in and around the shrine of Dastgeer Sahib (RA) and availability and supply of essentials.”Sagar impressed upon the authorities to ensure that vehicles ply smoothly on routes leading to the shrine. “The area is expecting to witness large congregations during the Urs period and as such it would be prudent for administration and police to implement necessary traffic regulatory measures so as to ensure smooth flow of the traffic around the shrine,” Sagar said.

While interacting with the locals, Sagar was apprised about the problems faced by the area. “It has come to my notice that the area is witnessing large power cuts and simultaneously facing an acute water shortage. The administration therefore must put men and machinery into action and see to it that such basic human needs are provided with. During the Urs period, as has been the practice administration should put in place necessary water tankers around the shrine,”Later when asked about the issuance of Domicile Certificates to West Pakistan refuges in an chat with reporters, Sagar said, “Ever since PDP-BJP government, the only substantial work they have done is to create controversies. This was a non issue as far as issuance of identity certificates are concerned but the way government is handling this matter is worrisome as it might infringe upon our special rights.”While categorically asking the administration to stop issuance of domicile certificates to WPRs Sagar said, “As far as the issue of identity of WPR is concerned, that has already been taken care. Government in January had already issued Aadhar cards to these refuges so there is no point in issuing another ID certificate. We believe that the government has a malicious intent in this process of issuing Domicile Certificates and therefore it needs to stop forthwith.”  (CNS)
