Punjab School Education Board in a significant development launched an online Punjabi learning website for the promotion of Punjabi language www.elearnpunjabi.com.  After inaugurating the website Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that this online website has been developed in collaboration with Punjabi University.Dr. Cheema said that in the modern era of globalization we must take full advantage of new technologies to promote our mother tongue across the world. He further said that now even anyone can learn Punjabi sitting in any part of the country or abroad. He further said that it will also be very useful for NRI Punjabis who can now teach mother tongue to their children without traveling anywhere.

Dr. Cheema disclosed that this initiative was taken by the Education department under a number of Projects launched to promote Punjabi language dedicated to 50 years celebrations of Punjabi Suba. He further said that advanced technology has been used for Punjabi online learning in which audio-video assistance has been provided on website.Dr. Cheema said that website will be regularly updated by and online examination facility will soon be provided so that appearing candidates can evaluate their performance. Dr. Cheema especially thanked Punjabi University for their special assistance in developing this online software. He also appealed to the Punjabi University Vice Chancellor to provide special training sessions for the full use of this website and training through EDUSET should also be provided.

Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala speaking on occasion appreciated the commendable work done by the Education Multimedia Research Centre and Punjabi language Technology Research Centre in the leadership of Dr. Gurpreet Lehal of Punjabi University. He said that 10 department of Punjabi University on development of Punjabi language and culture.S. Balbir Singh Dhol, Chairman, Punjab School Education Board welcomed the distinguished guests and said that Board will soon work on starting on line Punjabi examination. Prominent others who were present on the occasion included DGSE Mr. Pardeep Agarwal, PSEB Vice Chairman Mr. Suresh Tandon, Secretary Mr. Janak Raj Mehrok, Director Academics Mrs. Manjeet Kaur, Director Computer Mrs. Navneet kaur Gill, DPI Elementary Mr. Inderjit Singh and Dr. Joginder Singh and Dr. Gurmeet Singh Maan from Punjabi University, Patiala.
