Union Food Processing Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal today inaugurated state-of-the-art Multi Skill Development Center here in the complex of Industrial Training Institute, where training will be provided to more than 2000 students annually in different skill courses.After inaugurating the center, the Union Minister informed that this center would provide training to students of Bathinda and Rural areas of districts in 19 streams including Apparel and Textiles, Manufacturing, Automotive, Automotive Designs, Fitness, English Speaking, IT, ITeS, Soft Skills etc. She said that the courses would have duration between 3 months and one year.Giving more details about Multi Skill Development Center, Mrs. Badal said that candidates with education up to 5th standard, 10th and senior secondary would be eligible for the skill training courses. She said that under Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's Skill India Mission, the partner of Punjab Government in Punjab Skill Development Mission, Gram Tarang had joined hands with 12 renowned companies of India. She said that these companies would provide placements to the candidates after completion of their respective courses from Multi Skill Development Center.Divulging details regarding candidates from Below Poverty Line families, Mrs. Badal said that these candidates would get free accommodation, meal and transportation as all such expenditure would be borne by Government.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Badal accompanied by local MLA Mr. Sarup Chand Singla handed over Letter of Intent to more than 200 beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana. Addressing the gathering Mrs. Badal said that under this prestigious scheme of Center beneficiaries would get Rs. 1.5 lakh monetary assistance to construct their houses. She said that 42000 urban beneficiaries would bring under the ambit of this scheme out of which more than 5000 from Bathinda. She said that the remaining beneficiaries would be provided monetary assistance for construction of houses in coming time as the district administration was completing requisite formalities.MLA Mr. Sarup Chand Singla thanked Mrs. Badal for initiating PMAY by providing letter of intents to beneficiaries. He said that this scheme would turn the dream of beneficiaries to get their houses constructed and repaired in reality. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Mayor Mr. Balwant Rai Nath, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shena Aggarwal, SDM Bathidna Mrs. Sakshi Sawhney, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Anil Garg etc.Earlier, the Union Minister also laid the foundation stones of upgraded schools at village Bandi, Gurusar Sainewala, Phoos Mandi, Nehianwala, Beer Talab Basti 2 and 3 and Harraipur.
