An Indian civil society activist and intellectual, Kamal Morarka and Chief Editor of an Indian newspaper ‘Chauthi Duniya’, Santosh Bharatiya Monday called on Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence and held detailed discussion on the ongoing situation in Kashmir.According to a statement issued to KNS, during an hour-long meeting, the Mirwaiz informed the visiting delegation about the ongoing political situation in Kashmir and said the picture presented at the government level was misleading people of India and it was the responsibility of the Indian civil society, intellectuals and responsible media houses to inform their people about the ground realities in Kashmir and educate them in light of historic perspective while pressurizing New Delhi to resolve Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.Stressing that it was unfortunate that many media houses were only highlighting the government perspective on Kashmir and ignoring the ground realities altogether, he said Kashmir issue was a reality that had held peace, development and prosperity of entire South Asia hostage.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman said Kashmiris were not against any nation or people and were peacefully striving for their right to self determination, which had been accepted in principle by New Delhi as well as the international community although India was only speaking the language of violence and aggression in Kashmir and ignoring the ground realities of Kashmir while implementing suppressive tactics on the people. On the occasion, the visiting delegation expressed that keeping in view the selfless sacrifices of lives and properties of people of Kashmir and the seriousness of Kashmir issue, the sentiments and aspirations of people needed to be respected while the Kashmir dispute resolved by initiating a formal dialogue process instead of using violence and aggression on the people so that the clouds of tension and confrontation hovering over the region are removed.

Meanwhile, a high level APHC delegation led by senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Musadiq Adil and comprising Mir Ghulam Hassan, Abdul Gaffar, Sheikh Majeed visited Nadihal, Kalaroos and Khumriyal, Lolab areas of north Kashmir to pay tributes to the martyred youth Danish Manzoor and Wasim Nazir Lone, who achieved martyrdom during the ongoing uprising while the Mirwaiz talked over phone with the families of the martyred youth and expressed his sympathy and solidarity with them and said the sacrifices of the martyrs are the real assets of the ongoing resistance movement which would be safeguarded at all costs.Senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited Deevsazr, Kulgam, Pulwama and Islamabad areas of south Kashmir and expressed sympathy with the families of the youth martyred during the ongoing uprising and said that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go waste and the resistance leadership and freedom-loving people were duty bound to take the movement to its logical conclusion.
