Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today visited Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIHFW) at Dhobiwan and took stock of its functioning.Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and other concerned officers accompanied the Minister.During the visit, the Minister also inspected the Kashmir Skills and Simulation Centre (KSSC) established in the Institute for providing clinical, technical and state of-the-art up to date emergency skills on high fidelity Simulators and received feedback about its functioning and benefits to the medicos.The Minister was informed that KSSC is the only lab in Jammu and Kashmir and one of its kind in the country to provide advanced training to the doctors and paramedics for tackling emergencies like Basic Life Support, Emergency Room Trauma Course, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Skill Birth Attendant and High Altitude Medical Emergencies etc by the experts from these fields.

Dr Saleem briefed the Minister about the functioning and facilities available in the Institute. He informed the Minister that short term orientation programmes are regularly conducted in RIHFW for the doctors and paramedics on varied subjects by the resource persons from across the country to update the knowledge of the doctors and paramedics.The Minister evinced keen interest in the functioning of the Institute, especially of KSSC and called for making optimum use of the infrastructure. He directed the Director Health Services to chalk-out a calendar of well tailored activities for the training courses for the doctors and paramedics to update their knowledge in the advancements. He also interacted with the trainers and trainees and enquired about the facilities available there.
