The Punjab State SC Commission has taken a suo-moto notice of the of the media reports in which serious allegations have been leveled against the management of a college situated at Batala (Gurdaspur) for committing embezzlement in the SC scholarship funds. The commission has sought a comprehensive report by November 29 from the Director Technical Education and Industrial Training; concern Principal and Director of Welfare Department, Punjab.Disclosing this  Rajesh Bagha, Chairman of Punjab State Scheduled Casts Commission said that the Commission has been getting reports from various quarters that some of educational Institutes in Punjab have been misappropriating the funds earmark for Scholarships to the students belonging to SC community. He said that such type of acts on the part of educational institutes is a matter of serious concern which needs to be checked with iron hand. He said that the Commission is a watch dog to protect the interest of the SC communities and if anything contrary to the constitutional rights bestowed upon the SC community is happened, the Commission would take prompt and strict action against the erring.
