Minister for Finance, Culture and Labour & Employment, Dr Haseeb A Drabu today directed for framing a consolidated BPL (Below Poverty Line) list to ensure optimum benefit of welfare and development programmes to the deserving segments of the society.Dr Drabu was speaking at a meeting convened here today to discuss the modalities for framing a consolidated BPL list.Chief Secretary, B R Sharma, Financial Commissioner Planning & Development and Principal Secretary to CM, B B Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Finance, Naveen Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary School Education, Shaleen Kabra and Secretary Social Welfare Department Sajad Ahmad Khan attended the meeting.
While necessitating the need of initiating the vital process of making a consolidated BPL list instead of separate lists by various departments, the Finance Minister said this will pave the way for extension of services to the people in a transparent and accountable manner.“This process will go long way in ensuring benefits to actual BPL beneficiaries and will minimize the leakage and transaction costs. By having a consolidated list, an effective and transparent system can be put in place for reaching out to the people with the government schemes and to deliver maximum benefits to them”, the Minister said.The Planning department was asked to constitute a committee which will validate all the separate lists lying with various departments and after proper Aadhar Seeding of beneficiaries a final list will be prepared to serve the purpose.The Minister said that this step will also help in eliminating redundant data and the issue of duplication can be easily tackled.It was informed in the meeting that the progress on the initiative taken shall be reviewed after 10 days.
