Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students staged another protest on Monday at Delhi Police headquarters here, condemning the manner in which police officers subdued the missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed's mother and sister. At least 150 students gathered at the police headquarters and raised slogans denouncing Delhi Police and JNU authorities for their persisting failure to carry out the required method for tracing Ahmed.Ahmed's mother Fatima Nafees and his sister Sadaf Musharraf also took part in the protest. Musharraf was seen with an injured and bandaged hand, which she attributed to the police "roughness" on Sunday."I say here something but something else is shown on TV. Even in yesterday's news, one of the TV channels termed our protest as drama. I don't want to say anything, my hand is paining badly... I can't even move it," Musharraf told IANS.A complaint letter was also submitted by the students to Joint Commissioner of Police R.P. Upadhyay regarding Sunday's episode of "police manhandling Musharraf and Nafees".Around 300 students from JNU were detained on Sunday when they, along with Musharraf and Nafees, were protesting near India Gateagainst Delhi Police for failing to trace Najeeb.President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday promised action after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged him to direct the Modi government to step up efforts to trace the JNU student missing for over three weeks.
