It is not only the ruling Akali Dal which blatantly promotes family rule and has run the government like a family company for nine and a half years, but now, leaders of the BJP that claims to be a cadre based party are also projecting their close relatives for tickets in the ensuing assembly elections. Senior BJP leader and cabinet minister Madan Mohan Mittal has taken the lead and is flouting all norms and regulations by promoting his son with the help of state government programmes. In a stinging statement senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Chander Suta Dogra and Himmat Singh Shergill, said that Mittal’s son who does not hold any elected post or official appointment in the government has inaugurated several Sewa Kendras in different villages of Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency represented by his father.

Demanding to know from the minister, in which capacity his son is inaugurating a government built facility, the AAP leaders said that this is a blatant violation of the Representation of People’s Act 1951 as also all government norms. They said that junior Mittal is inaugurating Sewa Kendras in his father’s constituency and taking credit for the programme as if people have elected the entire Mittal family and not just his father from Anandpur Sahib, said the leaders. The AAP leaders also came down strongly on the government machinery including sub division magistrate of Anandpur Sahib who along with his team of officials comprising BDO, Tehsildars etc was present in full strength at Arvind Mittal’s inauguration sprees. Warning the government officials against flouting rules to favour ruling party politicians the AAP leaders said that they are keeping a watch on all such officials who play a biased role during the ensuing election campaign and will bring it to the notice of the Election Commission.
