A meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DSRC-I) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ghulam Nabi Monga here today.Legislators, Ashok Khajuria, Ali Mohammad Dar, Javaid Ahmed Mirchal, Sofi Mohammad Yousuf and Zaffar Iqbal Manhas (Special Invitee) took part in the meeting and gave their suggestions for making the working of Committee more effective and result oriented.The Committee discussed agenda points of its allotted Departments including Food, Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Ladakh Affairs, Higher Education, Industries & Commerce, Hajj & Auqaf and Information & Technology.The Committee stressed on the need to help the concerned departments by way of creative suggestions and recommendations so that larger majority of the state is benefited. The Chairman said that Government is committed for equitable development of all three regions of the state and providing good governance.

The Committee also deliberated on the agenda points that will be discussed in its next meeting and sought comprehensive detailed report from the FCS&CA department related to streamlining the functioning of department as the same is the most important department catering to poor and needy people of the state.Earlier, The Chairman of the Committee welcomed the members of the Committee and Officers of Council Secretariat in the first meeting and sought their cooperation to make the Committee vibrant and result oriented.The Committee also decided that the Committee will visit Leh and Kargil districts soon to enquire about the functioning of the FCS&CA department at the respective places. Among others, Additional Secretariat, Legislative Council, Farooq Ahmed Sheikh besides Officers and Officials of Council Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
