On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee paid rich tributes to father of the Nation and lauded his prolonged struggle and valuable contributions for securing freedom from British Colonial rule.Pradesh Congress Committee also paid rich tributes to Former Prime Minister Lal Bahdur Shastri on is birth anniversary and recalled the services rendered by him for the Nation. In this connection a meeting of Senior Party Functionaries and Office bearers of JKPCC was held at Congress Party Headquarters, Srinagar which was presided over by MLC & Vice President Ghulam Nabi Monga.Paying rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Monga recalled his prolonged struggle and contributions for securing freedom from the British Empire, he has made valuable contributions and sacrifices for the honor of the Nation which forced the British Rulers to leave India. Mahatma launched a non-violent movement against the tyrannical rule of British and succeeded in bringing an end to it, he said. The life of long campaign of Mahatma against social injustice and suppression of the under privileged section of the society shall always be remembered and the Nation would remain indebted to Mahatma for his unending pursuit for the establishment of truly secular society.

He said Mahatma was an apostle of peace, a stanch believer of non-violence, who secured the freedom without relying on any kind of violence, he always taught the people that anything could be achieved by peaceful means only.He said Gandhi Ji was impressed by Secular character of J&K State and several times mentioned that he (Gandhi) has seen a ray of hope in J&K, but he was assassinated for being against the division of the country & communal frenzy of RSS who are still active and hell bent upon to divide the country on religious and regional lines. He further said that State of J&K has acceded to Secular India of Gandhi ji, not communal, he (Gandhi) was committed to strengthen the Secularism by uniting every section in the Country, but today serious efforts are being made by communal forces to divide the people on religious lines to serve their vested interests, which should not happen, Monga added. On this occasion Pradesh Congress Committee also paid rich tributes to Former Prime Minister Lal Bahdur Shastri on his Birth Anniversary and lauded his leadership skills and his commitment and conviction about strengthening and serving the Nation to the best of his ability. Those who paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi included Spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, Abdul Gani Khan, Irfan Naqib, Dr.Syed Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, Amir Rasool, Mir Rovais,, Reyaz Misgar and others.
