Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Saturday today said that the state government is keen to bring positive changes in education system and has flagged it as priority sector.“Special focus is being laid to bring positive changes in the education system by introducing courses which will enable students to face the future challenges. For this a process of reorientation of syllabus has been started and focus is being laid on employability through skill enhancement” Speaker said.  He was speaking at a function organized by S D Tara Puri School to commemorate the birth anniversary of founder president of the institute, Prof. M R Tara Puri.On the occasion, the Speaker also inaugurated newly constructed multipurpose hall in the School premises.Speaker appreciated the efforts and contribution of the private sector schools in raising the education standard in the state. He said with opening of many high-end educational and professional institutions in private and public sector, Jammu and Kashmir has emerged as a hub of education.

He said the state and centre governments are committed to raise the standard of education in the state and listed national level institutions like IIM, IIT, NIT, Central Universities and many other institutions opened in the different parts.Earlier, Principal of the School, Neeru Puri in her address highlighted the achievements of the School and putforth some demands regarding the development of the School.Responding to the demands of the Management Committee of the School, Mr. Gupta assured them that genuine demands would be mitigated soon.Among others Chairman School Management Committee, S S Malhotra, members of the Committee, staff and students of the School were present on the occasion.Later, the ‘Speaker visited Bawe Wali Mata’ and took stock of arrangements made for visiting pilgrims during Navratras.
