Governor stresses to instill human values in children

Governor Acharya Devvrat said stressed upon the need to instill human values in children besides teaching them value of discipline in life. He said that they should be made aware of our rich traditions and cultural heritage and added that mere knowledge of various subjects was not enough to make students fully educated in true sense. He was speaking at the Annual sports meet and prize distribution function of Kullu Valley School in Kullu today.While congratulating the school on sports day, the Governor said that our country was known for best education and knowledge in ancient times and ‘Guru-Shishya’ tradition was responsible for this fame. This needed to be revived again, he added. He said that teachers should set a good example of conduct as well as knowledge and inspire children to follow their footsteps. He urged the teaching community to serve with devotion and be ideal human beings and teachers. He added that will power, hard work and dedication were the secret of success.He said that the goal of education should be developing sensitive and aware human beings with human values of compassion and kindness and added that mere knowledge of few subjects of curriculum was not adequate to achieve the real objective. He said that unless children grew into nation loving citizens, understood the values of patriotism, the country would not progress in right direction. 

He said that the future of the country rested on the shoulders of youth who should associate themselves with mainstream activities, come forward to work for betterment of society, eradicating social evils and help the under-priviliged and needy persons.Lauding the ancient Gurukul Parampara, he said that teachers were regarded as pillars of light who dedicated their lives to the sole task of shaping the destinies of the children. It was the responsibility of the parents and teachers for the overall development of the student. He said that along with physical development focus was laid upon mental and spiritual development of students in the tradition. The Gurukul Parampara contributed towards building responsible individuals besides a self reliant society as it was employment oriented also, he said. He said that young generation should be made aware of our rich traditional values and cultural heritage which was known across the world. He said that besides the knowledge of Science and Technology, students should be well versed with our glorious history, rich traditions and culture which should be part of the curriculum itself.The Governor urged the teaching community to take up the challenge of building nation dedicatedly as they carved the destinies of pupils as well as of country.  He said that they influenced the minds of students powerfully then any other, hence instilling good values, shaping the character of students at young age could have a lasting effect. He said that the country would march ahead on the path of growth only when youth participated in mainstream activities and campaigns for eliminating social evils. He said that teachers must sensitize the students about these and inculcate human values in them.

He congratulated the Indian Army who had destroyed the base camp of terrorists in Pakistan. He also congratulated the school staff for imparting quality education to the students and organize such an impressive function.He also gave away the prizes to the meritorious students and winners in sports actvities. The Governor also release school magazine on the occasion.Principal, Kullu Valley School Shri Sanjeev Bhardwaj on the occasion welcomed the Governor and thanked him for gracing the occasion. He said that the school has carved a niche for itself among the cluster of educational institutions in the town and State and would continue to spread its wings far and wide. He added that the school was committed in providing the best nurturing environment of education for the student to learn, grow, strive to achieve their goals.He also detailed out various activities and achievements of the school during last session and said that many students passed out from this school have been selected in various national level completions.An attractive band performance,  colourful cultural programme and plays on social issues, Yoga and others were also performed by the students on the occasion.Vice Principal Manju Bhardwaj, BDC member Renuka Dogra, SDM Rohit Rathore, other officers of district administration, school staff and parents of the students and other prominent people of the town were also present on the occasion.
