While lashing out at New Delhi for its lax approach towards the prevailing situation in the Valley, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLC G N Monga today blamed Government of India for being insensitive towards the people of the Valley. In a statement issued to KNS, he said, “It has been almost three months that Kashmir is shut. Violence, killings, shutdown and curfew has become order of the day. However, it seems both Central and State governments are least bothered about the happenings in Kashmir.”“There has been no forward movement from Government of India since almost three months. There were initiatives initiated by Congress leader of Opposition in Rajjaya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azadji and the follow up of these initiatives were the visit of All Party Delegation to Kashmir. But since then there has been no forward movement from New Delhi. Government of India has become a mute spectator to the killings happening almost every day in Kashmir,” the Congress leader rued.

Urging the Government of India to immediately intervene and stop the war hysteria created by some news channels, he said, “New Delhi must concentrate on Kashmir situation and see how the suffering of people can be mitigated. The economy of Kashmir is in doldrums, all the vital sectors have suffered immensely but government has become a mute spectator.”He said even after 82 days when more than 85 civilians have been killed and thousands have suffered fatal injuries, the government of the day is not feeling any heat. “In 2010 when UPA government was ruling at the Center, it took several initiatives to calm down the situation. Then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singhji, UPA chairperson Madam Sonia Gandhji and AICC vice president Rahul Gandhiji were always concerned about the Kashmir situation. However, present government is least bothered about the situation” Monga said. While expressing his sympathies with the families of thos who were killed and injured during the ongoing unrest, he blamed the state and the central governments for "mishandling" the situation. He also demanded adequate compensation for the families of killed and for injured people.
