DC reviews arrangements for Muharram

Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for Muharram.The meeting was attended by ACG, Sachin Jamwal, SDM South, Sonu Pargal, officers from JMC, Fire Services, PHE, PDD, PWD,Health and representatives of religious organizations.DC extensively discussed the   arrangements to be put in place for the observance of Ashura in the sacred month of Muharram. Submitting the list of programmes and processions to be organized, Anjuman-e- Imamia Jammu informed the DC that subject to the appearance of moon Muharram will commence from 2nd October. 

The meeting discussed requirements for organizing safe and peaceful events in the city which are attended by scores of people belonging to different faiths.Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officers to ensure availability of water tankers especially at places of mass gatherings besides making proper provisions for medical aid .To ensure cleanliness and hygiene, DC directed JMC to deploy additional manpower at the venues and install mobile toilets. He further instructed for putting in place proper provisions for security, traffic management besides better coordination among departments for keeping the mishaps at bay.DC also directed the officers to maintain the standard of services throughout the month covering consecutive festivities stretching to Mahanavmi, Dussehra and Diwali.
