Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today convened a meeting with the officers of district administration, members of civil society and representatives of various religious organizations.The Minister took first hand appraisal of the situation in Rajouri and stressed that all stakeholders should strive for maintaining peace and amity in the region. The civil society has a pivotal role to play in promoting peace and strengthening the bonds of harmony, he added.He also directed the police and district administration to take strict action against those involved in such activities which vitiate the peaceful environment.The Minister assured the participants that government is making concerted efforts to steer the state on the path of development and sought their cooperation in strengthening these initiatives of the government.“Our state is known for its rich social fabric where people of different religions & beliefs live together in harmony,” he said, adding that, we all have to collectively preserve these age old ethos and culture.The participants demanded that security agencies should deal strictly with the persons who were behind the incident and assured the Minister for cooperation in maintaining peace.MLA, Rajouri Qamar Choudhary, MLC Vibodh Gupta, DC Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat and officers of law enforcement agencies were also present in the meeting.
