Unemployment growth is not the requirement for India: Pranab Mukherjee

Emphasising on social performance for economic growth of the country, President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said that unemployment growth is not the requirement for the country.Stating that two factors are important for India to economically grow, Mukherjee said: "Overall social performance should grow, which includes health infrastructure, social infrastructure among others, which is the requirement. Social distribution and growth with equity is also required."Mukherjee said that job generation was also required for economic growth.He was addressing the students of Classes 11 and 12 of Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya at the President Estate. Mukherjee was addressing the students second time in a row on the occasion of Teachers' Day.Mukherjee on the occasion stated that there was an emerging idea within the political parties that the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections should be held together.He said the Election Commission can also put in their idea and efforts on holding the polls together.Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education, and was a well-known statesman, scholar, the President of India and above all, a teacher. His birth anniversary is marked as a tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society.
