Bringing the mercury down, the incessant rains since the wee hours of Sunday morning lashed Valley thereby caused water lodging in Srinagar areas including the commercial hub Lal Chowk. The incessant rains brought respite to the people from the scorching heat in Kashmir.Talking to KNS, an official in the Meteorological department (MeT) said that the rains would continue in most places of the Valley till this evening while there would be considerable improvement in weather conditions from Monday morning. He said that there is not any possibility of heavy rains during the day as per the prediction. “Light to moderate rains would continue till this evening across the Valley,” he said.Official in the MeT department informed that there will be occasional sunshine as well.Meanwhile, the incessant rains caused water logging in several city areas.“With the incessant rains since wee hours of this morning, the roads as well as the rains are inundated in the Srinagar especially in the business hub Lal Chowk thereby caused immense hardships to the people in these areas,” witnesses said. The various areas in Srinagar including business hub Lal Chowk, Jawahar Nagar, Rambagh, Raj Bagh, Khanyar, Habba Kadal, Nowpora, Bemina, Noorbagh and others are water logged.Locals told KNS that, “SMC is in deep slumber as they have failed to look into the miseries of the local population. They should have at least refurbished the poor drainage system so that the problems faced by the people here would be solved once for all.” They said that they are being pushed to walls due to the poor drainage system in their area.Accusing higher ups for ignoring their plights, the inhabitants here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.
