The Opposition Parties delegation led by Omer Abdullah, G.A. Mir, M. Y. Tarigami, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen and Ghulam Hassan Mir called on AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi today.The delegation, threadbare, discussed the current crisis prevailing in the valley with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and briefed him about the death and destruction caused in the backdrop of protests across the valley. They also apprised him about the number of causalities due to unprecedented use of pellet by Security Forces leaving more than sixty people dead and thousands maimed besides leaving dozens of people blind including children and teenagers.The delegation sought full support of Congress party in initiating a sustained political dialogue with all stakeholders in the State at right earnest in order to find a lasting solution to this vexed problems. The delegation, among other things, sought the full support of Congress Party in address the genuine concerns of the people, at all levels, as the people, due to the current unrest continue to suffer in every respect, the imposition of curfew for last 42 days and restrictions on the movement of people across the valley has put the common people to a great hardships.

The delegation also briefed Gandhi about the mishandling of the situation by Coalition Govt, as a result the situation in the valley is extremely volatile, besides the loss of lives and injuries to thousands has thrown the situation out of gear, the deteriorating situation was the outcome of the wrong approach of the PDP BJP Coalition Govt of PDP BJP.The delegation also appreciated the role of the Congress Party in highlight the genuine concerns of the people, the way Congress Party debated and discussed the Kashmir situation in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is praiseworthy, they added.Congress Vice President assured the delegation that Congress Party shall continue raise the genuine concerns of the people their resolution and shall also continue to work towards the betterment, development and safety of the people. He also assured that the Party shall stress on the Centre Govt to reach out to the peple inorder to address their genuine concerns.Among other who were part of the delegation included Ab. Rashim Rather, Ali Mohd Sagar Mian Altaf Ahmad, Mohd Akbar Lone, Ch. Mohd Ramzan, Devindar Singh Rana, Mubrak Gul.
