We have read in history about the heinous crimes of “Changez and Halako”, but the repression and oppression we are subjected to have surpassed them as well, said chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani, while marching towards Aripathan Beerwah to offer Friday Prayers and pay homage to 4 innocent youth were martyred on Tuesday by Indian armed forces, was stopped and arrested by a large contingent of police. Before being arrested, he said that since 2010, he has not been allowed to offer Friday prayers and today also I am being prevented from this religious obligation, which is the worst kind of human rights violation and we strongly condemned this act.Commenting on the “regret” of the army officer on the cold blooded murder of 30 year old lecturer in Khrew, Geelani said that this killer army has been doing this mockery for the last 7 decades and after these inhuman crimes, they try to pacify the people by ordering the so-called probes.

Responding to the army’s statement of denying the reports of it being called for handling the ongoing uprising and that law and order was not its domain; Geelani said that this is ridiculous and a big joke.He questioned that what army was doing in this village of Khrew in the thick of night, where they broke the window panes of houses and subjected the people to physical torture which resulted in the death of this innocent young man? Geelani further said that the army claims to be a disciplined force but for us they are disciplined only in killings and know various lethal methods of snatching our precious lives.Regarding the firing incident of the ambulance driver Gh. Mohammad and critically injuring him, Geelani said that even in war hospitals, ambulances and patients are speared, but here we are facing a situation more pathetic and dangerous than the war, where hospitals, ambulances and patients are also targeted for the only one crime that they all want Azadi from this cruel and murderous occupation by so-called world’s largest democracy.Meanwhile Hurriyat (G) spokesman while commenting on the reports of traffic police being involved in the torture and harassment of people, said that black sheeps in regular and traffic police, have forgotten that they belong to this soil and they shouldn’t use this uniform to subject their own brethren to the inhuman treatment, as this piece of cloth and the stick or gun in their hand can’t save them from the wrath of people. He further said that nocturnal police raids in Batergam Kupwara, Zainageer, Sopore, Bandipora have terrified the common people further as they are already facing the bullets of Indian army. (KNS)
