As a part of 125th Birth Anniversary of the founder architect of Indian Constitution, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal gave approval to establish Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Constitutional Studies at Punjabi University, Patiala on the pattern of such Centre already established at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. This decision was taken by the Chief Minister while presiding over a high level meeting to review the arrangements of 125th Birth Anniversary celebrations of legendary Dr. B.R. Ambedkar here at Punjab Bhawan on Monday evening.Taking part in the deliberations, Mr. Badal asked the Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala to study the model of this Centre at Nagpur University so that such Centre could be established at Punjabi University, Patiala to perpetuate the great legacy, philosophy and works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. 

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Cultural Affairs & Tourism apprised Mr. Badal that Punjabi University, Patiala had organized a seminar on August 5 on the role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in women empowerment. Likewise, five more seminars would be organized on different subjects viz. Parliamentary Democracy- Views of Babasaheb at Punjab University, Chandigarh on August 30, Media and Dr. Ambedkar at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar on September 7, Babasaheb and Constitution of India at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on September 23, Babasaheb’s Vision of Education at Central University, Bathinda on October 7 and Economic Development- Dr. Ambedkar Vision at Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar on October 21, 2016. The Chief Minister also gave his consent to preside over the seminar to be held at Central University, Bathinda on October 7, 2016.Mr. Badal also gave approval to organize a state level function at Ludhiana on November 26, 2016 to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar and asked the Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Dr. Charanjit Singh Atwal to personally monitor the arrangements of this mega function which was likely to be attended by eminent scholars, academicians, statesmen and intellectuals so that the multifaceted personality of Dr. Ambedkar could be discussed at this forum in the right perspective with the focus on his major contribution towards the emancipation, social justice and empowerment of weaker sections of society.
