Hailing the statement of senior Congress leader and former Sadr-e-Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Karan Singh, wherein he had said that J&K’s relation with India is “governed by Article 370,” opposition parties Thursday urged Government of India to find the solution to the long pending political issue.NC’s provisional president, Nasir Aslam Wani said that statement of Singh is based on facts.“Statement is historically true and correct. It is time now that government of India should initiate a process and find the solution to the long pending political issue,” he added. He said that all stakeholders must be taken on board and process should be set in motion to find the solution.Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, G A Mir told KNS that statement of Singh must be taken into consideration during the scheduled All Party Meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister on August 12.

“During All party Meet, the statement of Singh which is historically true and correct, must be considered. It will help the participants to understand the sensitiveness of matter. It will help in initiating political process in right direction to win the hearts and minds of the people in state,” he said.“Not only in all party meeting but the statement of Singh should be discussed and given weightage at all platforms where Kashmir issue will be discussed,” he said.PDF president and MLA Khansahib, Hakim Muhammad Yasin welcomed the statement given by Singh and said that the central government should implement it on ground. “Government of India should think over the statement given by Singh, which would help them to normalize the situation in Kashmir,” he told KNS.He said that if Singh could have given such statement earlier then the things in Valley would have different.DPN president and former agriculture minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir while terming the statement of Singh as historically real, said that “Singh is live witness of that accede but mere words can’t resolve the Kashmir issue.”“The GoI should address the Kashmir issue according to the aspirations of people of all the regions including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he told KNS.
