The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has directed the Additional Chief Secretary Local Bodies to issue instructions to the Commissioner Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur to make a personal appearance before the commission at the next hearing and present the report sought by the commission regarding a drain emitting stench. The complaint concerning this was made by Sri Guru Ravidass Sabha, South Khurd, near railway station, Hoshiarpur.Disclosing this, Chairman of the commission Rajesh Bagha said that on 25th August, 2015 Chief Sanitary Inspector, Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur Rajinder Pal had appeared before the commission in respect of the complaint filed by Sri Guru Ravidass Sabha Hoshiarpur. He was directed to file a report regarding the issue on the next hearing i.e. 17th November, 2015. But nobody appeared from the commissioner’s side nor was any report received.

Not only this, but on the hearings fixed on 22nd December 2015, 18th February 2016, 26th April 2016 and 31st May 2016 no representative from the commissioner’s side  made an appearance before the commission and neither was any report submitted resulting in pendency of the complaint. He further said that the commission took a strong notice when again on 2nd August 2016, the date fixed for hearing, nobody from commissioner’s side appeared. It was then that the commission ordered Commissioner Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur to appear before it which again went unheeded. Now, the commission has directed the Additional Chief Secretary Local Bodies to issue instructions to the Commissioner Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur to personally appear before the commission and submit the report concerning the complaint.
