People here in Rajouri have alleged that they lack each and every facility while roads are in dilapidated condition as a result commuters have been facing a tough time.The locals said that most of the link roads including from Dassal, Mankot, Gurdhanbala, Thudi, Kheora, Ujjhan, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Danidhar, Kotdhara are in bad shape while government has been taking no measures to repair them.“The road from Darhal to Thana Mandi is in shambles while crores of rupees were withdrawn from treasuries for its improvement. We don’t know where that money has gone,” questioned the locals.Various transporters have decreased the frequency of their vehicles to avoid damage to their vehicles on these bumpy and potholed roads.
They said that even Tehsil Office established in 2008 is not functional. “Not speaking of other facilities even people lack medical facilities. The authorities seem to be in no mood to mitigate problems of the people,” said Karamat Malik.The locals warned the authorities that they would hold a large-scale demonstration if the repair work on these roads was not started soon.They rued that widening and repair work of the Rajouri-Darhal road, which was started more than five years back, was going on at snail’s pace.When contacted Executive Engineer R&B said that the work will be started once government allocates funds to the department.
