The Education Minister, Punjab Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema today carried out a comprehensive review and detailed analysis with the teachers showing poor results in Matriculation Examination. He gave instructions to the higher ups of the department to act upon the suggestions received from the teacher so as to ensure qualitative improvement in future. Dr. Cheema today held brainstorming session at Punjab School Education Board Auditorium with around 500 teachers of six subjects which had shown poor results in the state.At the very outset, Dr. Cheema made it clear that the intention behind today’s meeting is not to embarrass or offend any teacher but evaluate the poor results and ensure improvement for the future. The Minister invited frank suggestions from the attending teachers and said that if there is lacuna at any level, steps would be initiated to sort it out. He also though admitted that this year’s results have shown improvement in comparison with the previous years.Dr. Cheema instructed the Chairperson of the PSEB Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal to convene a meeting with subject experts in order to execute the constructive suggestions received regarding Syllabi and Text books from the teachers. He also sounded a cautionary note and said that school heads and DEOs are also liable to be held responsible for showing poor results. 

The Minister while interacting with the press after the meeting said that a programme to provide in service training to the teachers showing poor results would be chalked out soon and these teachers would be expert resource persons. He also disclosed that the Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) of the teachers would be directly linked with the annual result by giving maximum weightage to the board result.Prominent among others who were present in the meeting Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Chairperson, Punjab School Education Board, Mr. Pardeep Aggarwal, Director General School Education, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, DPI (SE), Mrs. Pankaj Sharma, DPI (EE), Mr. Sukhdev Singh Kahlon, Director, SCERT, Dr. Ginni Duggal, Deputy Director, All subject experts of PSEB, all DEOs (SE) and Concerned Principals.
