Advocating more subsidies to the agriculture sector in Punjab, State Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sucha Singh Chhotepur today said that there was dire need to save the peasantry in the state by extending more financial aid to save farmers, who were being forced to  take the extreme step of suicide due to heavy debt. “If the existing subsidies being extended to farmers would have enough, then farmers would not have forced to take the extreme stem of suicide.  It is duty of the state government to save the food creators of the country”, Chhotepur added. Training his guns towards Badal family, Chhotepur claimed that faulty agriculture policies of NDA and Akalis were responsible for the poor plight of farmers as they provided only lip service to the farmers and nothing was done on ground. On the contrary, they made the lives of peasantry tougher by frequent hike the prices of diesel & petrol, he added Once AAP Government is formed in Punjab, rates of diesel would be brought under control by reducing the Value Added Tax (VAT) on it, Chhotepur said adding that even the high rate for getting the tubewell connections would also be reduced. Chhotepur termed the reports published in a section of media regarding ‘bickering’ in the AAP as “baseless & planed reports” and appealed media to beware of such tactics being adopted by the opposition parties.
