Minister for Social Welfare, Science and Technology, Mr. Sajjad Gani Lone today informed the House that bus services of Chhamb are being provided from Jourian to Din-Dager and from Akhnoor to Dori-Dager which is about 37 and 45 kms respectively.Replying on behalf of Minister for Transport to a question by Dr. Krishen Lal, Mr Sajad said that the distance from Dori-Dager to Ponah is 7 km and road is being constructed under PMGSY. He said out of 7 kms length 4 km has been blacktopped and the rest is still a kaccha road. He said as per the information, the road has not been cleared for vehicular traffic till date by R&B Department.The Minister said that at present about 3 mini buses and two bus services are operating on the said route from Jammu to Akhnoor to Din-Dager and the concerned Chhamb Group would be directed to ensure the services upto Ponah as and when the road is cleared by the concerned authorities.
The Minister said that the transport services in almost all the areas of Chhamb constituency is available and the service is also being provided by Jammu-Chhamb Group adding that there is no complaint as such regarding the non-availability of services in the hilly areas in Chhamb constituency.The Minister said that presently JKSRTC does not operate any bus services on these routes. He said, however, the corporation intends to operate its buses on these routes, as and when fresh fleet of buses are inducted and also subject to allotment of time table from the concerned RTO /ARTO.The Minister said no JKSRTC bus is presently under operation from Palanwala, Sailonwali to Degree College Akhnoor and vice-versa. He said, however, as and when induction of fresh fleet takes place, these routes would be given top priority.
