Jammu and Kashmir central non gazetted electrical employees union and daily wager and causal labors Monday staged a protest here in press enclave against government for failing to deliver their wages from past eight years.Protesters assembled and chanted anti government slogans. They were demanding the release of their salaries and regularization of workers who have worked in department more than 7 years. The protesters told KNS that their salaries are withheld from past eight years due to which they are facing immense hardships. “I am sole bread earner of my family and the government by not releasing our wages put miseries in our lives. Despite working with dedication, the government is not releasing our salaries on time,” said a protesting employee.

Besides, protesters were also demanding regularization of their workers. They said that as per government rules, their services are to be regularized after seven years. They accused government of callous attitude towards them.“I have been working in Power Department Development (PDD) department from past 9 years but I am yet to be regularized. We were assured that after seven years of work we will be regularized but neither we are regularized nor we get our wages,” said one of the protesting employees. Abdul Hameed Khanday, Vice president appealed to the government to meet their demands soon.“In case government fails to do so, we will hold large scale protest for which the government will be held responsible,” he said.
