Opposition Congress and few ruling parties legislators continued to create uproar in Lower House for third day Friday over the issue of reservation in promotion of category employees working in government sector. Led by Congress’ Legislative Party Leader and MLA Leh, Nawang Rigzin Jora, the legislators including MLA Surankote Choudhary Muhammad Akram, MLA Shangus Gulzar Ahmad Wani, MLA Kargil Asghar Ali Karbalai created uproar in the Assembly and stormed into the Well of the House.“Government should amend the provisions regarding the reservation in promotion of the reserved category employees,” he said.Jora said that the court was not preventing the government in restoring reservation in promotion of reserved category. “We don’t understand why isn’t the issue being discussed here even when the court doesn’t prevent the government in restoring reservation in promotion of reserved category,” he said.

Meanwhile the ruling BJP MLAs including Dina Nath and MLA Chamb Krishan Baghat joined the Congress in the protest. However, Speaker Kavinder Gupta lashed out at the protesting legislators, for disrupting the proceedings in the House on the same issue time and again.Responding to the protesting MLAs, Minister for Rural Development Abdul Haq Khan said that the case is sub judice and the House cannot discuss it.Khan said that the issue can be discussed only after the Supreme Court and High Court, where the case is being heard, can deliver verdict.“Government is keen to address the issue of the reserved category employees. Our lawyers are pleading the case in Supreme Court. Once the verdict is delivered, then it can be discussed,” the minister said.Later the protesting MLAs went to their respective opposition benches after Speaker asked them to refrain from disrupting the proceeding of the House.
