Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik who was scheduled to address a public gathering at Lal Chowk Islamabad today was arrested by police at Pampore when he was going towards Islamabad. Police had laid a siege at many places on the road leading towards Islamabad and when the delegation led by Yasin Malik reached Sampora Pampore, police stopped them and arrested Yasin Malik along with JKLF vice chairman Mushtaq Ahmad Ajmal, leaders sheikh Khalid Mubarak, Professor Javed and Muhammad Amin Magloo .despite Yasin Malik’s arrest, another JKLF delegation reaches Islamabad, asks people to boycott upcoming elections.

While condemning the spree of arrests and restrictions, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik in his message from incarceration said that these arrests, ban on freedom of speech and restrictions are exposing the tall claims of PDP rulers who are continuously using the rhetoric of “battle of ideas” to hoodwink international community and Kashmiri people.Yasin Malik said that so-called chief minister recently in puppet assembly falsely claimed that during PDP rule they allowed voices of dissent and even resistance camp was allowed to run an election boycott campaign. The truth is that I was myself virtually kidnapped by police and kept at some unknown place for months and not allowed to hold any public contact program at that time also, added Yasin Malik. He said that today we have been arrested miles away from Islamabad and these arrests are actually exposing the blatant lies and deceitful politics of PDP rulers.Yasin Malik said that India and its stooges in the name of so-called democracy have actually raped democracy in Jammu Kashmir. It seems that so-called rulers want to run a police show in the name of elections because all the voices of dissent are being strangulated by them and no one has been allowed to meet people so-far in Islamabad, added Yasin Malik.

He said that such is the level of mockery of these so-called elections that today votes have been put on sale in Islamabad and rate of one vote has been fixed at three thousand Rupees. This is being done to enhance poll percentage, asserted Yasin Malik. While appealing people of Islamabad to show and preserve their magnanimity and seriousness, Yasin Malik said a casting vote is harmful for the sacred cause of martyrs and it actually amounts to committing a national crime. He asked that how can anyone caste vote and strengthen RSS backed politicians, how can anyone vote for those parties and person who are hell bent upon implementing RSS anti-Kashmir, anti-Muslim agenda in Jammu Kashmir, how can anyone vote for those who hanged our father of nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru. Yasin Malik said all pro-India parties and politicians are like two sides of the same coin and are deployed for safeguarding Indian interests in Jammu Kashmir and our reply to them should be a total and unanimous boycott on 22nd June 2016.He said that people of Islamabad have rendered valuable sacrifices for freedom and need to stand up and boycott upcoming farce, fraudulent elections so that a clear message is delivered to India, its Kashmiri stooges and to the international community that Kashmiris reject these gimmicks and only want freedom.

Meanwhile despite Yasin Malik’s arrest, a delegation of JKLF led by zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal managed to reach Islamabad town. Delegation included JKLF zonal general secretary sheikh Abdul Rashid and others. JKLF leaders addressed a gathering at Jamia Masjid Islamabad and asked people to stay away from so-called elections as these were detrimental to the interests of Kashmiris. Leaders while condemning the spree of arrests said that putting political opponents behind bars has exposed the fraudulent democracy of India and its Kashmiri stooges. Strong protests against farce elections and arrest of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik were also held.A written message from JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik appealing for a total boycott of elections was also distributed among the people at many places in Islamabad. Also JKLF senior activist Showkat Ahmad and Muhammad Akram addressed people at Kehribal Jamia Masjid Islamabad and distributed written appeal among the people. (KNS)
