Scores of pro-freedom leaders and activists which include Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Abdul Ahad Parra, Sayed Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Advocate Mohammad Shafi Reshi, Engineer Farooq Ahmad, Ghulam Mohammad Nagu, Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Sayed Yaqoob, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Noor Ahmad Kalwal, Mehraj-ud-din Rabbani, Faroz Ahmad Khan, Sayed Imtiyaz Hayder, Mudasir Nadvi, Umar Adil Dar, Rameez Raja, Mohammad Akram Najar, Javaid Ahmad Baba and many other Hurriyat activists today participated in a silent protest demonstration at Lalchowk which was jointly called by the pro-freedom leadership and registered their protest against the proposal of Sainik and Pandit colonies in Kashmir. To thwart the scheduled joint protest program against the Sainik and Pandit colonies, the police in a crackdown on the pro-freedom people detained Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Mohammad Ashraf Laya, Bilal Siddiqi, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Sayed Mohi-ud-din Andrabi, Mohammad Ayaub Khan, Ghulam Mustafa Wani, Abdul Rehman Tantray, Sofi Bashir, Zahoor Ahmad Kumar, Ghulam Muhammad Hurrah, Fayaz Ahmad, Younis Ahmad Najar and dozens of other Hurriyat activists in different police stations, jails or houses. While as Syed Ali Geelani and Shabir Ahmad Shah are already under the continuous house detention.

While strongly condemning the government actions, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that the continuous restriction over the peaceful political activities in the Jammu & Kashmir is a very dangerous trend which will have very serious consequences. He said that the PDP had swallowed its slogans of “battle of ideas” and the “Goli Nahi Boli” and this party has come up with a dangerous face in Kashmir.Besides using its entire force to suppress its opponents particularly the pro-freedom camp, this party is also misusing the state machinery to its fullest to block any voice raised against its anti-Kashmir policies. Syed Ali Geelani cautioned the Mehbooba Mufti and her colleagues that their anti-national activities will have very serious consequences and they too will not escape from those situations. Chairman Hurriyat (G) said that these people (PDP) have made the Kashmiri nation an easy target for the RSS and have left the entire state on the mercy of these fanatic communal forces. It is a serious crime and the nation will never forgive them for that. Syed Ali Geelani said that some ministers of PDP have been formally and directly adopted by the Sangh Parivar and have also performed ‘Shudhi’ (baptize) on them. They took every order from Nagpur (RSS Headquarters) as a holy verdict and despite knowing all this, the other people in this party are maintaining a criminal silence and to save their chairs, they are deliberately pretending as if they know nothing. Syed Ali Geelani once again cautioned that if the Sainik and Pandit colonies concept is not abandoned, the joint protest program of the pro-freedom leadership will continue and it will be made more effective.
