DDC holds public grievance redressal camp in Bani

With an objective to take stock of the problems being faced by the people of Bani, District Development Commissioner, Kathua today convened a public grievance rederessal camp in the area.A large number of people hailing from Bani and its adjacent areas participated in the camp and put forth their grievances related to water supply, power supply, road connectivity, sanitation and ration supply.The villagers also demanded that they should be given jobs in SEWA-II hydel power project of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). The DDC assured them that the matter will be taken up with NHPC authorities as soon as possible.The DDC informed the participants that high mast lights will be installed in the area and the project has been taken up with Urban Local Bodies for including Bani as Municipality.The DDC appealed the locals for their joint efforts with the department to protect and increase beautiful forest cover in Bani.CEO LSDA, Bharat Bhushan, ACD Kathua, Sunil Sharma, SDM Bani, Ajeet Singh, AD CAPD, XEN PWD (Basohli), CHO, Tehsildar, BDO and other tehsil level officers were present in the camp. 

During his tour of the area, the DDC inspected various ongoing developmental works being executed by PWD, PMGSY, RDD and other departments.While inspecting the developmental works at Government Degree College Bani, the DDC directed the executing agency to take up the construction of academic block on priority and make proper drainage system in the campus.Later, the DDC inspected Government Higher Secondary School, Bani and directed the staff for providing quality education to the students. He also visited Gujjar and Bakerwal Girls and Boys Hostel and fish-farm at Lowang.The DDC said that creating such facilities at rural level will check migration of the locals. He also interacted with a deputation of nomads of Dhar, Sarthal and directed the concerned authorities to resolve their grievances in a time bound manner.The DDC also reviewed the arrangements for upcoming Bani Chinj Mela which is scheduled to be held from June, 25 to June 27, 2016. He also reviewed the functioning of the Revenue Department on the occasion.
