Committed for development of every cadre of the society, State Govt. has implemented the welfare schemes in the state in true spirit. Rs. 1 crore 43 lacs spent on welfare works of construction workers children's. This was stated by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Industry & Commerce  Punjab and local legislator Mr. N.K.Sharma while addressing the gathering at Sharma Farm after distributing 173 cycles to school going children's of construction workers. During this Sh. Sharma also distributed financial assistance of Rs. 15 lacs 15 thousand at the rate of Rs. 15000 per beneficiary to 101 beneficiaries under Shagun Scheme.During this Mr.. Sharma said that Rs. 1 crore 43 lacs have been spent in the constituency for welfare works of construction workers children's. 

He said that scholarship allowance of Rs. 2000 per year and uniform allowance of Rs. 800 per year is being provided to school going children's of construction workers who are studying in class first to five. Meanwhile Rs. 3 thousand scholarship and Rs. 1 thousand uniform allowance is being provided for students of class 6th to 8th and for the students of standard 9th to 12th Rs. 5 thousand annual scholarships and Rs. 1000 uniform allowance is being provided. Similarly Rs. 15 thousand scholarships is being provided to students of Graduation and Post Graduation studies and Rs. 4000 per year is being provided for books and stationary. Children's of construction workers who are doing medical studies are being facilitated with scholarship of Rs. 30 thousand and books and stationary allowance of Rs. 8 thousand per year. 

Besides these various other welfare schemes have been initiated for construction workers.Then after addressing the press Mr.. Sharma said that the constituency has got a complete change due to efforts of Chief Minister & Dy CM Punjab. As such, Rs. 500 crore has been spent for various development works and Rs. 150 crore will also be spent during current financial year for carrying out various development woks within the constituency. He said that Rs. 7 crore 86 lacs stands provided for construction of individual toilets in the villages and within next 2 months 100% target for the same will be achieved. During this Sh. Sharma said that 24 hours power supply is being provided to the farmers of Dera Bassi for operating tubewells, whereas in other constituencies power supply is being provided only for 8 hours in a day. Sh. Sharma said that Rs. 37 crore will be spent for repair of roads and tenders for the same have been called. He said that very soon Lalru near dera bassi will get a complete change.

Gurnam Singh Bhankharpur, Chairman Market Committee Dera Bassi Sh. Chand Rana, Sh. O.P.Sharma Handesra, S. Dharam Singh Dharamgarh, S. Jasbeer singh, Member Davinder Singh Brar, Bharat  Bhushan Chaudhry, S. Rajinder Singh Issapur, Sh. Gurpreet Singh,  Sh. Rahul Sharma, Sh. Ravinder Singh Ravi and other reputed persons along with huge gathering were present.
