Prof.Bhim Singh, Supremo of National Panthers Party, Executive Chairman of State Legal Aid Committee & a Sr. Advocate of Supreme Court described the slaughter of nearly 250 neelgais in Bihar by the order of Wildlife Managers as highly objectionable, illegal amounting to animal slaughter acts which are grave violation of the Wildlife Protection Laws. He said that Sections 11 & 12 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 that no person/authority is allowed to kill/slaughter animals under the Act of Parliament 1972. An animal (applied to single animal) could be killed if it has become dangerous to human life or is disabled or diseased beyond recovery. Even in case of such single animal the order of the authorities has to be a spoken (written) order.Section 11(2) clearly states that killing or wounding in good faith of any wild animal in defense of oneself or of any other person shall not be an offence. This clearly means that killings of animals for any other purpose other than self defense shall amount to be a slaughter/ offence under this Act. Killing of nearly 250 wild animals (neelgais) in Bihar on the private land by the orders of the authorities under the control of Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change.

Prof.Bhim Singh bravoed the Union Minister Smt. Maneka Gandhi for demonstrating genuine courage by standing steadfast on the issue and coming out bold against the slaughter of Neelgais in Bihar. He appreciated the Delhi Pradesh Panthers Party to stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar condemning the brutal slaughter of nearly 250 Neelgais in Bihar in utter violation of Wildlife Protection Act. He said that there were several remedies available for the Union and State Govts. to protect or provide protection to the agriculture crop to keep the wondering innocent animals (neelgais) out of the domain of crop covered land. While addressing the Panthers Party activists in Delhi’s Hyde Park Corner (Jantar Mantar) Prof.Bhim Singh called on the youth and the students all over the country to raise their voices against the inhuman and brutal killings of innocent animals so that India’s great mission ‘Ahinsa Parmodharma’ survives.NPP activists in a resolution demanded a judicial inquiry into the killing of neelgais and appropriate action against the authorities responsible for such a inhuman slaughter of innocent animals in Gandhi’s land—Bharata. Among the prominent NPP activists who joined the dharna /protest included Rajiv Jolly Khosla, Romesh Khajuria, Anil Kumar Sharma, Sunita Chaudhary, Swami Omji, Kali Ram Tomar, Sushil Khanna, Balwinder Khosla, K.K. Raghav, Mehfooz Khan, Dildar Hussain Beg, Sarita Gupta,Krishna Bhardwaj, Pawan Singh, Neelam Thakur and others.
