Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his unhappiness over the way the issue of anti-migrant bills of Manipur, awaiting presidential assent, is being "politicised" and that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had never sought an appointment. He conveyed his sentiments when a Bharatiya Janata Party team from Manipur called on him in New Delhi in connection with the three pending bills. "Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh never sought appointment with me. If he seeks one I am always ready to talk with the delegates," he said against the chief minister's public statement that he had sought appointments with the prime minister, the home minister and others from the middle of May but not received any response."If appointments are sought, meetings could be held. But the prime minister can be met only when he returns from his foreign tour," he said.

Delegates of all political parties with the exclusion of the Naga People's Front have been camping in Delhi to meet the leaders on the issue. During Sunday's meeting, the BJP team, led by state president Khetrimayum Bhabananda, urged the home minister to take up steps to give assent to the 3 bills and as he wanted to know whether all political parties in the state support the same, told him that there was "no objection". Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju was also present in the meeting.
