Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today deeply mourned the untimely demise of Mr. Harkirat Singh (41), the grandson of former Chief Minister Mr. Beant Singh at village Kotli near Payal, here this afternoon. Mr Harkirat was the son of former Minister Mr. Tej Parkash Singh Kotli and younger brother of Khanna MLA Mr. Gurkirat Singh Kotli and had passed away in an unfortunate incident at Chandigarh on May 30.Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today called on the bereaved family here at their ancestral house and shared his heartfelt sympathies with them. Mr Harkirat Singh was also the Sarpanch of village Kotli and is survived by his wife.The Deputy CM was accompanied by Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal, Irrigation Minister Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Mr Virsa Singh Valtoha and Harmeet Singh Sandhu, MLA Mr Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, besides several others.

Sharing his condolences with the grief-stricken family, the Deputy CM said that it was an irreparable loss for the entire Kotli family and prayed to the Almighty to give enormous strength to bear this huge loss in this hour of crisis and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Mr Sikandar Singh Maluka also visited the family and shared his heartfelt condolences.Prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included MLAs Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Mr Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, ex MLA Mr Jagjiwan Singh Khirnia, Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat, ADC (Khanna) Mr J K Jain, SSP Khanna Mr Satinderpal Singh, SDM Payal Mrs Harjot Kaur, besides several others.Ludhiana MP Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu, cousin brother of Mr Harkirat Singh, informed that Harkirat’s Bhog and Antim Ardas would be held at Guru Nanak National College, Doraha from 12 noon to 2 pm on June 5, 2016.
