To thwart the joint protest program of the pro-freedom people, the police launched a massive crackdown against the entire pro-freedom camp and the Hurriyat Conference leaders and the activists headed by Syed Ali Geelani who have been arrested and have been put under house arrest or in different police stations include Syed Ali Geelani himself, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Mohammad Ashraf Laya, Mohammad Ayoub Khan Pulwama, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Ghulam Mohammad Hurrah, Manzoor Ahmad Lalhar, Zaffar Habib HMT, Bashir Ahmad Shaikh HMT, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Kallo Sopore, Abdul Rashied Baigh, Mohammad Maqbool Quandhu, Mushtaq Ahmad Gullo and Bilal Ahmad Yattoo. 

The police have launched a massive crackdown against the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists in every town and village of the Kashmir valley and hundreds of them have been arrested till the Thursday evening. While strongly condemning the arrest spree of the government including the detention of Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik and other leaders, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that the BJP-PDP coalition government had broken all the previous records of oppression and had made this region a police state. He cautioned that these policies will have very serious consequences and it will increase the political uncertainty and instability in the state. (KNS)
