A live operative workshop on minimal access surgery was held at District Hospital Baramulla today under the aegis of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir State Chapter of Surgeons of India (JAKASI).The event included live operative workshop on minimal access laparoscopic surgery besides CME on Minimal Access Surgery.The workshop and CME was attended by surgeons of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Surgical Faculty of Government Medical College, Srinagar, SKIMS, Medical College SKIMS and a galaxy of retired surgical faculty.DHSK in its effort to enhance the lapro skills of surgeons across Kashmir Division have been conducting advanced workshops like these on routine basis so that there is dissemination of knowledge and gain of surgical skills among the surgeons resulting in smooth functioning of advanced surgeries at district and sub-district level thereby benefiting the patients at large and providing tertiary care at their doorsteps.

The Guest Operating Faculty included Prof. Nisar A Choudhary, Dr Arshad Misger, Dr Mushtaq A Chalkoo and Dr Hakeem A Vaqar which was followed by scientific session wherein four paper presentations were delivered by Dr Rauf A Wani,Dr Iqbal Saleem,Dr Nazir A Wani, Dr Afak Yusuf Sherwani followed by a Panel Discussion chaired by Prof G Q Peer, Prof Fazal Q Parray , Dr Gh. Jeelani Zargar, Dr Irshad Kuchay and Dr Zaffer S Khanday.The Panel discusson was moderated by Dr Akhter Ganai. The workshop was organized by Medical Superintendent District Hospital Dr Syed Masood wherein the Organizing Secretaries were Dr Afak Yusuf Sherwani  and Dr Shadab Nabi Wani.The workshop was presided by Deputy Director Schemes Dr Altaf Beigh and CMO Baramulla Dr Bashir Chalkoo.CMO Baramulla said  that this workshop is first of its kind in North Kashmir.
