The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today chaired a meeting to review arrangements being made for Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 2016. The DDC directed all the officers to strictly follow timeline for completion of works that have been undertaken along the Yatra route.During the meeting threadbare discussions were held pertaining to establishment of medical camps, sanitation, availability of essential commodities, traffic management, drinking water facilities, power supply, telecommunication, and repairs of roads enroute to the Holy Cave.The officers from all concerned departments apprised the DDC about the progress of works going on for the smooth conduct of ensuing Yatra-2016 via Baltal route. It was informed that most of the works shall be completed by June 15, 2016.On the occasion CMO Ganderbal apprised the DDC that in addition to the medicare facilities provided last year, 5 oxygen points will be put in place at different places enroute the Holy Cave.

The DDC was also informed that for the first time 9 fire hydrates will be installed at Batlat and Domail. Discussions were held regarding upgradation of mortuary at Sonamarg, establishment of EOC at Sonamarg and upgradation of JPCR at Baltal.The DDC was also apprised that registration of ponies will start from May 9, 2016 in the office of chief Animal Husbandry officer Ganderbal and Similarly the registration of laborers including pony walas, pithoo walas , Dandi walas has already started from May 1, 2016.During the meeting the District Development Commissioner directed for installing sign boards regarding Yatra 2016 at different locations for facilitation of the Yatries. He also directed for repairs of roads/tracks enroute to the Holy Cave.Among others ADC Ganderbal, ACR Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, ASP Ganderbal, Executive Engineers of all concerned departments, Tehsildars and other district officers were present in the meeting.
