Appreciating the role of Crime Branch and local court for initiating action against the ‘killer’ cops, the father of slain Banidpora youth Saturday claimed that it was Aziz Thakur alias Aziz Killer who picked up his son and then brutally tortured him to death in Kaloosa STF camp in 2006.Ten years after court sent four cops including two police officers to Srinagar central jail for killing his 21 years old son Zahoor Ahmed Sofi of Brar, Bandipora, his father Habibullah Sofi said that he will not budge till killers are not hanged. “Aziz Killer approached and begged before me for mercy. He was asking me to compromise. He offered me Rs 22 lakh and a piece of land. When I refused he tried to pressurize me. I stood firm and reposed faith in the System,” Habibullah told CNS adding that all the four accused sent to jail by the court are directly responsible for the death of his son.

“My son was a clerk in Wullar B.Ed College Papachen Bandipora. On day in 2006 Aziz Killer from Kaloosa STF camp along with a police party entered into my house and asked my son Zahoor that few people wants to talk to him. “My son was not affiliated with any militant outfit so i didn’t take the matter seriously. When Zahoor didn’t return, I approached police post where a Sub-Inspector confirmed his detention. I had never thought that Aziz Killer would kill my innocent son. A day before my son was tortured to death, i begged before a police officer for a meeting. Aziz Killer brought Zahoor in front of me but I was not allowed to talk to him.

Aziz Killer who probably hails from Chenab Valley told me that after questioning Zahoor will be released, but I lost my world next day when I saw the dead body of my son. The body of my son was half burnt. He had been brutally tortured in the custody and it was Aziz Killer who put him to death,” Habibullah said.He alleged that police tried to enact a drama by naming a dead constable for the murder of his son. “I am being told that the main accused have not been booked under section 302. I am waiting for the day when the killers will either be hanged or imprisoned for life,” Habibullah said adding that he is satisfied the way court and Crime Branch handled the case.
