Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry has questioned the government’s silence over the harassment of Kashmiri students in Jammu engineering colleges.“The keen interest taken by Dr. Nirmal Singh, the Deputy Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir Government in regard to sorting out the problem of NIT Srinagar and at the same time adopting a quiet attitude viz-a-viz harassment caused to Kashmiri students at Jammu professional Institutes is baffling and if the things are allowed to unfold in the manner reported in the press, it will have repercussion felt all over causing great harm to the peace and economy of the state as a whole,” KCCI president Mushtaq Ahmad Wani said in a statement to KNS.The KCCI President expressed his grave concern about the intimidation and harassment caused to the Kashmir students in various Engineering Institutions situated in Jammu division of the State as reported by a section of press in news papers.

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) feels it to be its bounden moral duty to seek peace to be maintained and the disruptive forces kept at bay and therefore urge the State Government not only to ensure peace and safety of students in the educational Institutions within the State, but appropriate measures be taken to safeguard the life, and academic future of kashmiri students studying in Rajasthan which is otherwise in peril, after the university of Rajasthan has suspended them from further studies in the University. The Chamber seeks immediate deputation of a high level team to different Professional Institutions / colleges and Universities enquire and assess the untoward situation, faced by the kashmiri students now and then reported by print media, so that safety of their life and leisure with studies is reassured by the Government.
