Regional Transport Authority Jammu has generated revenue of Rs 60 crore during current financial year.This information was given to Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr Kavinder Gupta during his visit to Regional Transport Office, Jammu today.Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Mr. A K Khajuria, gave briefing about the various activities of the Authority and informed that registration of vehicles in Jammu Region has risen to 7.50 lakh. He said as many as 4000 people visit RTO Office daily for preparation and renewing of licenses and other related issues. He also apprised the Speaker that all the records have been computerised and there are online facilities available to facilitate the people.The Speaker while inspecting different sections of the office stressed upon the officers to work with dedication and responsibility to ease out the problems of commoners.

Reacting on the demand of shortage of manpower in the office the Speaker assured that necessary steps will be taken on priority basis.Joint Commissioner, Transport, Mr. A S Jamwal was also present on the occasion.Earlier, the Speaker visited Channi Himmat and kick-started the upgradation works of lanes and drains in the area being constructed by Jammu Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs 5 lakh.The officers of JMC and engineers of R&B Department accompanied the Speaker during the visit.On the occasion, Speaker interacted with the local people who projected their demands relating to development of the area. He said that all round development of the area shall be ensured.The Speaker assured them that their demands will be looked into on priority. He asked the concerned officers to prioritise demands of the people of the area.
