The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal today rubbished all canards about formation of 3rd front and said that there was no discussion about 3rd front when Samajwadi Party Chief  Mulayam Singh Yadav yesterday called on him at his residence. Talking to media persons after inaugurating international standard hockey stadium with latest Astroturf constructed at the cost of Rs.7 crore,  Badal said that  Mulayam Singh Yadav and  Om Parkash Chautala are old family friends of  Parkash Singh Badal as they have struggled collectively excesses of Congress Party during emergency and various struggles.  Badal said that we keep on meeting on various social occasions despite our separate political affiliations and nothing political should be read in a purely social meeting of two families. He said that Shiromani Akali Dal had remained oldest constituent of National Democratic Alliance and its association with NDA was inseparable. Commenting on the political situation in the Centre,  Badal said that countdown has already begun for the fall of UPA-II and earlier elections for Lok Sabha were inevitable. He said that SAD was fully prepared for these elections and its cadre was itching to make sure that party and its alliance partner sweep in all 13 seats in Punjab. He said that UPA that was on ventilator could not be saved by the supply of daily news cylinder of oxygen and said that President should intervene to ensure that this minority government was not allowed to take any major policy decision.Expressing surprise over UPA’s plan to spend Rs.1000 crore out of hard earned tax payers’ money in a futile attempt to make over its image dented severely after coalgate and other multi thousand crore scams.  Badal said that Congress led UPA government owes an explanation to the people of India that who authorized them to spend money collected by it by raising diesel prices and imposing other taxes. Later addressing an impressive gathering of hockey lovers during the final of 21st All India Baba Farid Gold Cup Hockey Tournament organized here by Baba Farid Hockey Club,  Badal announced to start a Punjab Hockey League to promote National game of hockey in a big way. He said that under this league a hockey club of each city having Astroturf hockey ground would be set up and a hockey academy would also be set up there to churn out the budding talent to further groom it for national as well as international challenges. Reiterating his commitment to bring back the lost glory of Country in Hockey, the Deputy Chief Minister said that he has asked former Indian Hockey Captain and now an SAD MLA  Pargat Singh to chalk out a comprehensive plan to promote hockey so that by next Olympics Indian hockey team should made its presence felt in International circuit. Badal said that the SAD-BJP government has constructed and upgraded 13 stadiums to international standard at a cost of Rs.150 crore in the state. Besides Faridkot Astroturf, 4 new synthetic hockey surfaces were being laid at Mohali, Bathinda, Ludhiana and at Punjab Institute of Sports, Ghuddha. He said that Jalandhar sports school was also being upgraded as state level sports institute. He said that the state government has also decided to organize 3rd edition of World Cup Kabaddi in the first week of December. The Deputy Chief Minister informed that a Rs.418 crore long term plan to strengthen sports infrastructure in the state has been chalked out for nurturing budding sports talent from the very beginning. He also congratulated the Punjab Police team for lifting Baba Farid Gold Cup by defeating Signals by a solitary goal during the final match.Later on paying glorious tributes to Baba Farid Ji, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Baba ji was a very pious, humble and religious man of impeccable character, who led a simple life. He said that Baba Farid Ji’s 116 hyms in Punjabi were included in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, Member Parliament,  Deep Malhotra, MLA,  Raminder Singh, Commissioner Faridkot pision,  Ravi Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner and  G.S. Dhillon, SSP.
