The Department of Horticulture organized one day “Kisan Goshti cum Awareness Camp” under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (PMKSY) here today.Farmers in large number participated in Kisan Goshti and were made aware about the different components of the PMKSY Scheme.Chief Horticulture Officer, Tarvinder Singh while addressing the farmers and fruit growers briefed them about the different schemes and programmes presently under implementation in the District especially PMKSY. He urged them to come forward and avail incentives available under different schemes and gave special emphasis on establishment of Vermi Compost units in their orchards.The CHO also advised farmers and fruit growers to adopt cash crops like strawberry which has very good potential in the area and emphasized on establishment of Drip & Sprinkler Irrigation systems for judicious use of irrigation water.Chief Agriculture Officer Vipan Sambyal, DLSMS (Pomology) Jyoti Prashad, DLSMS (PP) Raghu Nath Upadhaya, HDO Kathua Dr. Anju Bala, HDO Barnoti Sandeep Gupta, HDO Hiranagar Varinder Sharma, HDO Basohli Pawan Thakur, HDO Bani Brijpal Singh besides others also participated in the programme.
