Ludhiana College of Engineering & Technology organized one day workshop to enlighten the ill effects of Doping Agents to create awareness among the youth. The key note speaker at the moment was Dr. Ajay Pal Singh, renowned Psychiatrist, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana, who is having 32 years of rich experience in this field. Dr. Singh cautioned the audience that every chemical added to the body is harmful after a certain dose. He shared that the use of Anabolic steroids, which are freely available in the country without prescription, is very ram pour among the youth to gain muscles and strength. Theses steroids are often used by the young adults to improve their looks and enhance physical activity in the game as these drugs increase the production of red blood cells and oxygen carrying capacity of the body.

 Dr. Singh  further explained that there is wide array of side effects associated with abuse of anabolic steroids include liver, kidney , and heart problems.Dr. Singh  also explained ill effects of dietary supplements .He advised it is always better to take a nutrition diet including fresh vegetables and fruits in place of such dietary supplements and informed that using too much of such supplements can cause liver damage, reduce bone strength and impaired working of other organ.While Explaining ill effects of drug abuse Chairman LCET Vijay Gupta said that young lives are lost due to drug addiction, Families are ruined due to drug addiction so it is high time to  sensitize and spread awareness about ill effects of various drug abuse to the college students & society because  alarming rate of drug abuse has gripped the region .   According to him It is a major hurdle in progress and prosperity of the country.
