Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik on Mondaycalled for complete shutdown against the arrest of Prof SAR Geelani and “harassment” of Kashmiri students studying in Delhi. In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said that Kashmiris will not remain silent over the continued efforts of demonizing Kashmiri students in Delhi and other Indian states.“Kashmir will shut down on February 27 (Saturday) against the “oppressive measures” of India including arresting peaceful social activist and educationists like SAR Geelani, incarcerating and intimidating JNU, Kashmiri students and also registering fake cases against them,” he said.Malik while speaking in a meeting of JKLF on Monday held to deliberate upon the situation arising after the continues detention of Professor SAR Geelani and other students of JNU and witch hunt of Kashmiri students studying in Delhi and other Indian states.

While speaking in the meeting, JKLF chairman said that Indian rulers and their authorities have unleashed a reign of terror against Kashmiri students studying in Delhi and other Indian states.Veteran social leader and educationist SAR Geelani along with student leader Kanayah Kumar are languishing in jail on false sedition charges, other students especially Kashmiris are being raided, intimidated and a witch hunt has been going on against these students.

Malik said that slapping case of sedition against students and teachers of Jawah Lal Nehru University (JNU) and also on SAR Geelani is a glaring act of undemocratic attitude of Indian rulers and their growing intolerance. He said that now a case of contempt has also been filed against them. All this is done to keep these people in jail on false and fabricated charges and try to take revenge from those who dare to raise their voices of dissent and protest against oppression and suppression.

Malik said that demonizing Kashmir and Kashmiris is an old tactic of Indian rulers and Kashmiris have been withstanding Indian oppression from many years and will continue to resist this till the achievement of the desired goal. Yasin Malik said that witch-hunting of Kashmiri students is actually a ploy to destroy their careers and this can be tolerated silently and Kashmiris will continue their protest against this Indian oppressive behavior. He said that Kashmiris will observe a complete shutdown on Saturday 27th February 2016 against continues detention of SAR Geelani, JNU students. Registering false and fabricated cases against them and intimidating Kashmiri students studying in Delhi and other Indian states. While appealing people of Kashmiri to observe a complete and comprehensive shutdown on Saturday 27thFebruary 2016, Yasin Malik said that through our protest we will show solidarity with our new generation and also with those who dare to speak truth in worst situations and conditions.
