Independent Legislator Engineer Rasheed was twice attacked by miscreants in Rajouri district of Jammu Division. Miscreants damaged his vehicle at Bamla Rajouri and then again he was attacked near Akhnoor when was on way to Srinagar.Rasheed held Station House Officer Sunderbani for the attack and said that he provided ample room to ‘goons of BJP and RSS’ to attack him and his workers.Reports said that Engineer Rasheed was on way to Rajouri to have an interaction session with the locals there. “As we reached Bamla Rajouri, Station House Officer Sunderbani stopped my vehicle there. Few RSS and BJP goons were already present there. SHO in reality blocked our road to provide time for goons to assemble there in large numbers. In presence of police, the BJP, RSS goons first stoned us and then chased us away with logs and lathi’s in their hands. A stone hit my neck while my vehicle was completely damaged in the ‘planned attack,” Rasheed told CNS adding that goons dragged him out from vehicle amid slogans like, Bharat mai rehna hai, Ram Ram kehna hai, Pakistan Murdabad.
Without visiting Rajouri, Rasheed and his men left for Srinagar but were again attacked near Akhnoor. “How goons came to know about our retreat and who gave them information about the number plates of our vehicles. The goons spotted our vehicles and pelted stones on them near Akhnoor,” Rasheed’s aide Inam-un-Nabi told CNS alleging that police were in league with BJP, RSS vandals.This was the fourth assault on Engineer Rasheed by right wing extremist forces and ruling BJP men since 2015.On 8 October 2015 Engineer Rasheed was thrashed by BJP MLAs inside the Jammu and Kashmir assembly for hosting a party where he served beef on the lawns of the MLA Hostel. Rasheed who is known for his pro-Kashmir ideology was attacked on 19 October 2015 when ink and engine oil were thrown on him by an outfit called Hindu Sena, led by Vishnu Gupta at the Press Club in New Delhi Delhi.On 26 November 2015, Rasheed and received injuries in an attack on his vehicle by some Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists on the outskirts of Bhaderwah town in Domail area Doda district. His vehicle was badly damaged in the attack. (CNS)
