22000 girls to be provided skill development training under Hunnar in Anantnag

The Additional District Development Commissioner Anantnag today chaired a meeting of officers to review the implementation of Hunnar, the Skill Development Scheme for poor girls, in the district. The Additional District Development Commissioner said that 22,000 poor girls have been identified by the ICDS department in the district to enable them to earn a dignified livelihood. He said the girls will be given skill development training under different schemes by various government departments. He said that the proposed scheme will bring all schemes and training programmes launched by different departments having training and skill development component including Himayat, Umeed, National Rural Livelihood Mission etc under one umbrella.  

The ADDC directed the District Social Welfare Officer, Anantnag to furnish the list of identified poor girls to JK Entrepreneurship Development Institute so that the institute imparts training to the girls under the flagship schemes like Himayat and Umeed.  He said that MANAS, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Yojana and RDD department’s National Rural Livelihood Mission have potential for smooth transition into Self Help Groups and beneficiaries under Hunnar can be provided the revolving grant and basic infrastructure and financial support in addition to the skill development training, which will be provided in the initial phase.

He stressed on the officers of Handloom department, JK State Women’s Development Corporation, Animal Husbandry Department and Handicrafts department, to expedite the process of registering the identified girls and provide them the skill development training in the already running training centers on priority basis.The officers present in the meeting included, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Anantnag, Assistant Director Handicrafts, District Manager, J&K Women’s Development Corporation, Assistant Director Handloom, General Manager Cooperative Department and District Manager J&K EDI.
