Inaugurating Oil and Gas Conservation fortnight at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) here today, the Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, stressed upon the need for conservation of Natural resources and environment to ensure better future for coming generations. He said conservation does not mean stopping use of Oil and Gas but avoiding wastages at every step. He said it was moral duty of one and all to utilize available resources judiciously.Appreciating the efforts of Oil and Gas companies in spreading the message of conservation of precious petroleum products, Prof. Solanki said that every citizen of the society has the responsibility to contribute to this National cause so that our children have better living environment.
The Governor further said that India is emerging as a major player in the world economy and with rapid economic growth of the country; India’s oil demand is increasing every year. He said efficient utilization of energy resources and energy conservation in various sectors of economy was needed. He said such fortnights have been effective in promoting oil and gas conservation through extensive mass awareness activities in domestic, agriculture, industry and transport sectors.
He also administered pledge on the occasion that we all would shoulder the responsibility to educate the people to avoid wasteful use of petroleum products and use cleaner fuels for environment protections. He also distributed awards amongst the students who excelled in generating awareness.Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included, Mr. Kamal Chaudhry, Secretary Food and Civil Supply Punjab, Mr. PK Dass State Level Coordinator and Executive Director, Mr GS Sodhi, Mr Nagesh Mittal, Mr. Sanjay Arora and Mr. Sudhir Satish.
