In an significant order, the State Vigilance Commission has directed IGP Crime to register a  Preliminary Enquiry for alleged misuse of official position by  the then SHO Police Station D.H. Pora, Kulgam, and his subordinates.Earlier, the State Vigilance Commission while proceeding on a complaint of Shakeel Ahmad Malik against Wasim Muhammad the then SHO Police Station D. H. Pora and others, alleging therein abuse of authority by way of assault, wrongful restraint, corrupt practices and attempt to involve the complainant in fake currency case by the said SHO and his subordinates, summoned the concerned SHO.After considering the complaint, statement of defence by SHO and his subordinates, evidence adduced by the complainant, record called from Police Station D. H. Pora as well as other relevant evidence, it came to fore that on denial for providing of an amount of Rs.30,000 as bribe by complainant as had been demanded by an Investigating Officer of the Police Station D.H.Pora, a  false  complaint regarding recovery of fake currency notes from him was lodged against complainant before Executive Magistrate by the involved  Police  Officials of the  Police Station. It got prima-facie established that respondents (SHO and his subordinates)  made every attempt to involve wrongly the complainant in a fake currency case for refusal to pay bribe in investigation of an FIR case of Molestation lodged by his wife. During enquiry by the Commission it came to light that, the fake currency notes were never recovered from possession of the complainant. However, in the ‘’case dairy file’’ fake currency notes were shown recovered from the complainant to falsely implicate him in the case for ulterior motives and in abuse of power. The State Vigilance Commission while taking serious note of such illegal action and misuse of authority by the said SHO and his subordinates while performing their official duties directed IGP Crime for registering of a Preliminary Enquiry against the police officials followed by time bound legal action against them.
